The Nizhny Novgorod Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a pre-investigating check into the death of a 41-year-old man in a district police station.

According to preliminary data, on 7 September 2013, about 4 PM, the cellmates found a in their cell the man without signs of life in the administration detention center of Avtozavodsky district police station in the city of Nizhny Novgorod. The officer on duty immediately called the ambulance. The doctors certified the man dead.

During the examination of the body, investigators did not found any traces of injuries. There were only traces of IV injections. Presumably the victim was a drug addict. A medical forensic expert examination was fixed to find the cause of death.

The man had been cited for administrative misdemeanor and a court had sentenced him to 3 days in detention.

At present the investigators are finding all the circumstances of the incident. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
