Suspects of organizing and committing killing from crossbow detained in Moscow

At night of 13 September 2013, a man’s body with a reach-through arrow wound was found 30 meters away from the exit from Novoukhtomsky motorway to the 6th km of the MKAD Moscow ring road. The investigative bodies of Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal case over signs of a crime under part 1 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (murder).

During the investigation a lot of investigating and search operations have been carried out to find all the circumstances of the crime, identify the victim and the people involved in the crime. As the result at night of 20 September 2013, the operative agents apprehended the perpetrator - a 33-year-old woman of Moscow Region and the immediate organizer – a 41-year-old man from Moscow.

According to preliminary data, not wanting to pay back his debts the man decided to organize the killing of his lenders. For that purpose he conspired with the woman, got the weapon in advance – a crossbow for the underwater hunt and worked out the plan of the murder. To implement his intentions and to check the crossbow in practice, the suspect met in a café a man (the investigators found that it was a citizen of Azerbaijan born in 1983) and under a pretext to introduce him to her “brother” accompanied him to a pond, located not far from where the body was later found. When the man was getting familiar with the organizer of the crime, the woman shot him in the back from the charged crossbow hidden in nearby bushes. The man was killed on the spot and the perpetrators fled the scene.

At present investigating operations are underway on the suspects. In the near future their custodial restraint and charges will be decided on. Investigation is ongoing.
