Today at about 8:30 PM, at least two unidentified people shot a judge of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Dagestan Mukhtar Shapiyev and his son in a stairwell of a 5-storey residential building in Gaydar Street in the city of Makhachkala. The victims died in hospital. The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in the Republic of Dagestan have launched a criminal investigation in the signs of crimes under article 295 of the RF Penal Code (encroachment on the life of a judge) and article 222 (illegal circulation of firearms).

At present a number of investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the crime, measures are being taken to identify and detain persons involved in the crime.
