In the morning of 26 January 2014, regional law enforcement bodies got a report that as a result of a gas explosion there was a fire in 2nd floor of a 4-storey house in Sverdlov Street in the town of Novomovskovsk. The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in Tula Region have launched a pre-investigating check into the incident.
According to preliminary reports, at about 3:30 AM, on 26 January 2014, presumably resulting from a gas explosion there was a fire damaging 3 flats. 34 residents of the building were evacuated and some of them were relocated to the community recreation center. A 51-year-old man, who lived in the flat where the explosion had happened, was delivered to hospital, the dead body of his wife was discovered at the incident scene, and 2 more people were taken to hospital with signs of carbon monoxide inhalation.
At present all the circumstances of the crime are being established. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
