On 18 July 2014, a helicopter of Air Forest Fire Protection Base made a forced landing near the village of Chemal in the Republic of Altai. The investigating bodies of the West Siberian Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have organized a pre-investigative check into the incident.
According to preliminary data the helicopter was flying from the town of Gorno-Altaisk to Belukha mountain to patrol the woods there. During the flight the on-board system signaled failure of electronics. The captain made a decision to land the helicopter. No-one aboard got hurt in the incident.
At present check is underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
