In North Ossetia-Alania criminal investigation launched in murder of deputy mufti

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania have launched a criminal investigation in the murder of deputy mufti Ruslan Gamzatov as containing signs of crimes under part 1 of article 105 and part 1 of article 222 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, on 16 August 2014, at 11:40 PM, an unidentified man shot at least seven times from an unidentified gun at deputy mufti Ruslan Gamzatov near a block of flats on Dovator prospekt in the city of Vladikavkaz. The victim died at the scene of gunshot wounds to his head and torso.

At present investigating and search operations are underway to identify the killer. Different versions are being checked, including the one connected with the Gamzatov’s professional activity. The investigation is ongoing.
