First deputy head of Sebastopol customs to stand trial for attempted bribetaking

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the city of Sebastopol have finished investigating a criminal case against the First Deputy Head of Sebastopol customs charged with attempted bribetaking (part 3 of article 30, part 2 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code).

Investigators have found that on 9 June 2014, the First Deputy Head of Sebastopol customs demanded from a CEO of a firm to give him a bribe of 2 thousand US dollars for assisting in problem-free registering and letting out 200 tonnes of vegetables over the customs border and for creating favorable conditions for the businessman in future in registering the goods imported in the Russian Federation.

The businessman went to the police, and further on all the operations were carried out under the control of the operatives.

In the afternoon 16 June 2014, the businessman gave the bribe to the official in an exchange office, where the latter was them detained.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, so the criminal case with the approved indictment will soon be sent to court to be tried on the merits.
