In Amur Region criminal investigation launched in disappearance of 10-year-old girl

On 8 September 2014, around 1:30 PM, 10-year-old Vera Zakharova went out school No 11 in the town of Belogorsk. Nobody has seen her since then. The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Amur Region have opened a criminal case over a crime under paragraph “c” part 2 of article 105 (murder of a child).

At present search operation is underway. The girls home, areas adjacent to her home and school have been examined. The investigators and volunteers called in neighboring houses, examined a construction site of the building of a former technical school, a residential building, sewage wells, bank of the Kiryanikha river, Belogorsk farm, basements and attics. The teachers and students of the school have been questioned. The search efforts are continued. An investigative team has been set up to investigate the case.
