In Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area Yugra under investigation in 2013 An-2 crash charges pressed against captain of aircraft

The investigating bodies of the Ural Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have pressed charges against the 55-year-old captain of the plane. He is charged with a crime under part 1 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (breach of safety standards for operation and traffic of aircraft entailing grievous bodily harm and serious material damage by negligence).

According to investigators, on 18 September 2013, around 1 PM, local time, the An-2 plane was flying from Arbynya to Nefteyugansk. During the flight after fuelling up the pilot detected that the temperature in the engine had risen and decided to make an emergency landing near the village Unyugan, Sovetsky District, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area Yugra. The plane was carrying 7 people, three of whom including the pilot were injured. The crash caused the owner of the aircraft OOO Taksavia large damage of over 2 million rubles.

At present investigative operations are underway to consolidate the evidence and finish the investigation.
