In Rostov Region criminal investigation launched in death of border guard

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Rostov Region have launched an investigation into death of a border guard as a crime under article 317 of the RF Penal Code (attempt on the life of a law enforcement body).

According to investigators, on 19 September 2014, around 4 PM, near the village of Chernikov, Krasny Sulin, Rostov Region an official of the border department of the Federal Security Service for the Rostov Region in a border squad Dozor was patrolling the state border of the Russian Federation, when an unidentified explosive device went off. The official got multiple missile wounds and died of them.

At present the investigators are examining the incident scene. A medical forensic, integrated tradeological and bomb technical expert examinations have been fixed.

The investigation is ongoing.
