The Smolensk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation against a businessman suspected of a crime under part 1 of article 198 of the RF Penal Code (evading paying taxes).

According to investigators, between July 2012 and April 2013, the suspect who was registered as a text payer in the town of Safonovo and ran a business of wholesale trading of construction materials evaded paying 1.2 million rubles in taxes.

At present investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
