Today, at around 4 PM, unidentified men shot several times near Yunona mall on Ploshchad Pobedy in the city of Smolensk. One man was killed, two others were taken to hospital. Later one of the wounded men died at hospital. The Smolensk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal case over a crime under paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder of two people) and part 1 of article 222 (illegal purchase, storage, transportation and carrying of firearms).

At present investigators, police officers, criminalists are working at the crime scene. They are cataloguing all the traces and seize objects relevant for the investigation. A special investigating team has been set up to investigate the case. The information on the victims is verified.

The investigators have given instructions to the internal affairs bodies to identify and find the killers.

The investigation is ongoing.
