In Astrakhan man charged with multiple sexual abuse of children

Employees of the Astrakhan Region Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee together with employees of the Crime Detection Department of the Astrakhan Office of the Russian Interior Ministry have dome meticulous work to solve a series of sexual abuse of minors.

On 3 May 2014, a 60-year-old unemployed local resident was held on suspicions of the crimes. Investigators opened against him a criminal case in a crime under paragraph “b” of part 4 of article 132 of the RF Penal Code. The investigators established that on 2 May 2014 the man being drunk beckoned two 11-year-old boys in B. Alekseyev street in Kirovsky district in Astrakhan and sexually abused them.

During the probe the investigators have gathered irrefutable evidence proving that the same man was involved in a series of similar crimes against children committed on 15 May and 24 September 2013 in Leninsky district of Astrakhan. In all, there are 8 victims aged between 11 and 14.

At the motion filed by the investigators the court has remanded the man in custody and by now he has been charged. He is charged with two counts of sexual abuse of minors aged under 14 (paragraph “b” of part 4 of article 132 of the RF Penal Code) and lecherous actions against two or more minors aged under 16 (part 3 of article 135).

The suspect has pleaded guilty and is cooperating with investigators. Investigation is ongoing.
