In Dagestan owner of children’s club detained under investigation into services not meeting safety standards and resulting in death of child

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Republic of Dagestan continue investigating a criminal case against the administration of a children’s club suspected of a crime under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (rendering services not meeting safety standards and entailing death of a person by negligence).

By the present time investigators have detained the club’s owner – a 34-year-old resident of Makhachkala.

As it was reported earlier, 15 children between 4 and 11 years of age came at the Children’s Infectious Diseases Hospital in the city of Makhachkala with the symptoms of a food poisoning. Sometime later one of the girls died.

According to investigators, on 30 May 2014, the victim together with her classmates and parents celebrated the end of 4th grade in the children’s club. After the meal the children displayed symptoms of a food poisoning. At the moment the work of the said facility is suspended due to the investigation.

At present investigating operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident. The restraint for the detainee is being discussed. The investigation is ongoing.
