In Chelyabinsk Region criminal investigation against group of locals charged with extremist activity finished

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Chelyabinsk Region have finished investigating a criminal case against 6 local residents on charges of crimes under parts 1 and 2 of article 282.2 of the RF Penal Code (organization and participation in activities of an extremist organization).

According to investigators, 35-year-old resident of the Chelyabinsk Region Vadim Khabirov, who has several police records for extremism crimes, in 2013, organized activity of prohibited religions Islamic organization Party of Islamic Liberation – Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islam and involved in it other people. On 27 September 2013, in the regional center Khabirov together with other members of the organization distributed leaflets and other literature propagandizing extremist ideas of the organization. During the probe the investigators searched the residences of the accused and confiscated a large number of printed materials recognized as extremist.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, so the case has been sent to court to be tired on the merits.

The investigators have also sent a request to the Chelyabinsk Region Main Office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior demanding to eliminate causes and conditions that promoted the crime.
