In Stavropol Territory former official of Traffic Police found guilty of bribery

A court has recognized the evidence gathered The North Caucasian Federal District Main Investigations Directorate sufficient to convict senior inspector of search team of a separate company of road patrol service of the Kislovodsk Traffic Police department of the Russian Ministry of the Interior Yuri Khabatov. He was found guilty of a crime under part 3 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (taking a bribe by an official for illegal omission).

The court and investigators have revealed that on 28 August 2013, while on duty at a traffic police checkpoint in Kislovodsk Khabatov received a bribe of 19 thousand rubles in cash from the driver of a Toyota Avensis, who presumably was drunk. Khabatov did not check if the driver was drunk, but let him drive away.

The court has given Khavatov a suspended sentence of 3.5 years, banned him from taking the position for 3 years, stripped him off his special rank and fined him on 760 thousand rubles.
