In Kaliningrad Region first deputy head of Gusev urban district administration detained for taking bribe on large scale

Kaliningrad Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation against first deputy head of Gusev urban district Kirill Kozlov after he took a bribe on a large scale (paragraph “c” of part 5 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code).

The operations exposing Kozlov’s wrongdoing were carried out by the officers of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Regional office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior.

This way, investigators have revealed that in the evening of 19 May 2015, the 30-year-old official while sitting in his car BMW X5 by Usadba hotel in the village of Orlovka, Guryevsk District, took a bribe of 335 thousand rubles from a businessman for signing completion certificates under a municipal contract on repair and recovery work at Common Grave of Soviet Soldiers, the cultural inheritance site of local significance, located in the village of Olkhovka, Gusev District, and was then detained. The investigators are going to request a court to place Kozlov in custody pending trial.

At present a number of investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
