On 25 June 2015, a number of media published a report on mass illness of children attending a kindergarten in Yegorlykskaya District, Rostov Region and hospitalization of 16 of them diagnosed with salmonellosis confirmed by laboratory tests. A pre-investigating check confirmed the information. Rostov Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation in a crime under part 1 of article 236 of the RF Penal Code (violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules).

At present, investigators are examining the kindergarten, taking samples of food the children ate, and assign necessary inquiries to find the hotbed of the infection.

The investigation is ongoing.
