In Kemerovo Region criminal investigation launched in RobinsonR-44 helicopter crash

The investigating bodies of the West Siberian Transportation Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation in a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety standards for the traffic or operation of railway, air, marine or internal water transport and metro, entailing death of two or more people) following a crash of a RobinsonR-44 helicopter in Tisul District, Kemerovo Region.

According to preliminary data, a RobinsonR-44 helicopter crashed today about 9 AM killing three people aboard (a pilot and two passengers). At present the two passengers have been identified, they are residents of Kemerovo Region aged 40 and 32.

According to eye witnesses, the helicopter caught a water-measuring cable stretched over the Kiya river and landed on the sand bank. 10 minutes later the helicopter took off again, but ascending heeled to the side and fell from a low height.

At the present time there is an investigative team working at the scene. The investigators are establishing the helicopter’s owner, carry out investigative operations to find out all the circumstances of the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
