Dead bodies of two unidentified men were found on 16 July 2015 in the Krestovaya tributary of the Ob river during search-and-rescue operations. On 17 July 2015, relatives of the people who had gone missing aboard a Mi-8 helicopter identified one of the bodies as the aircraft commander and the second as a resuscitation specialist of the Disaster Medicine Center.

The case in the Mi-8 crash in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area-Yugra is investigated by the Ural Transportation Investigations Directorate. It was opened in a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety rules for traffic and operation of air transport involving by negligence death of two or more people).

At present investigative operations are still underway to find out all the circumstances of the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
