Criminal investigation launched in Yak-52 crash in Samara

The Samara garrison military investigations department of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched a criminal investigation in a crime under part 3 of article 263 of the RF Penal Code (violation of safety rules for traffic and operation of railway, aid, sea and river transportation and metro inflicting death of two or more people).

According to investigators, on 25 July 2015, the said plane owned by the Samara Region Air Club of DOSAAF took off from Bobrovka air field located in the village of Oktyabrsky, Kinel District, Samara Region. While doing aerobatics the plane lost control for an unidentified reason and started to fall down. The instructor and the pilot were killed in the crash.

At present the military investigators have finished examining the crash site, confiscated flight documents from the Samara Region Samara Region Air Club of DOSAAF and questioned witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.
