Probe launched in death of person in gas explosion in Karelia

The Karelian investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation in a crime under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (provision of unsafe services entailing death of a person).

According to investigators, at around 2 PM, 19 September 2015, a gas explosion happened in a block of flats in the town of Petrozavodsk. 1 person was killed and at least 8 more were injured. In addition, the explosion caused fires in several flats.

At present, investigators are working at the scene. The investigative and search operations are underway to find out what exactly happened. The investigation is ongoing.
