Probe launched in Moscow Region in kidnapping of student and extortion of ransom

The Moscow Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation in the kidnapping of a 19-year-old student (paragraphs “a” and “h” of part 2 of article 126 of the RF Penal Code) and extortion (paragraph “d” of part 2 of article 163 of the RF Penal Code).

According to investigators, on 17 October 2015, two acquaintances of the victim in Moscow deceived him and made to get into a Mazda 3 car on the driver’s seat. They said that wanted to hang out with him a bit and asked to drive the car to some place near the village of Podlipki, Odintsovo District, Moscow Region. Then they forced the victim on the back seat of the car and handcuffed him. They used violence to extort from the student 300 thousand rubles and forced to sign a receipt. When they drove to Bryansk in order to get the money, the victim managed to get out the car. After that the kidnappers fled in an unknown direction and are now wanted. At the same time, two men have been detained in Moscow, who drove the student’s car on which he had come to Moscow. At present they are detained. Investigators are working with them. Custodial restraint is expected.
