In Rostov Region, deputy chief of police arrested on suspicion of bribery

The seventh office of the Investigative Committee’s Directorate (based in the city of Rostov-on-Don) has initiated criminal proceedings against deputy chief of the Novoshakhtinsk Police Department Zelfir Aliyev suspected of grand bribery under part 2 of Article 290 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, on 3 March 2017, Aliyev got via a middleman a cash bribe of 100,000 rubles in the town of Novoshakhtinsk, Rostov Region. The illegal reward was intended for dropping the charges of grand fraud under part 3 of Article 159 of the RF Penal Code against the person who gave the bribery based on Part 1, item 2 of Article 24 of the RF Criminal Procedure Code – in the absence of crime in the act. The said case was investigated by Aliyev’s subordinate investigator of the Novoshakhtinsk police department.

Aliyev was caught red-handed right after he had taken the bribe.

A court has ruled to place him in custody pending trial.

At present, investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
