The seventh department (based in the city of Rostov-on-Don) of the Investigative Committee’s Head Office has opened an investigation in plotting a terrorist attack under Part 2, item “a” of Article 2015 and Part 1 of Article 30 of the RF Criminal Code.

According to investigators, in late March and early April 2017, two residents of Rostov Region were plotting a terrorist attack in a shopping mall. They bought a 600 gram TNT bomb and an electric detonator and stored in the flat of one of them to make an explosive device.

The suspects have been detained and the bomb has been seized. Both of them have been taken to custody. The investigation is ongoing.
