On December 6, 2019, a federal TV channel broadcast a story of a 19-year-old girl from Irkutsk. The girl was born with her left arm missing; however, she maintains an active lifestyle and is engaged in creative work. The report said that she needed money for her dream, an advanced bionic prosthetic arm. Having watched the report, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia could not stay indifferent about this situation and immediately instructed the Head of the Irkutsk Regional Investigations Directorate to consider facilitating the purchase of the medical device.
In the shortest time possible, officers of the Irkutsk Regional Investigations Directorate organized a meeting with the girl to review organizational issues during a conversation with her, resolving of which would help to implement her dream in the nearest future.
With assistance from officers of the Irkutsk Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia, the Irkutsk Regional Ministry of Healthcare and the Irkutsk Regional Department of the Social Insurance of the Russian Federation, the opportunity for providing and fitting the biomechanical (bionic) upper limb prosthetic was found. For this, officers of the Investigations Directorate provided assistance to the girl in undergoing required medical examinations.
The Irkutsk Regional Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia intends to watch over the girl’s future and provide her with help and assistance.
