In relation to appeals of public representatives and mass media reports related to plays of Sovremennik theatre, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed his subordinates to study and assess the facts reported in the publications.

The negative reaction of the public was caused by the fact that actors of one of the plays not only use profanity, but also, in the opinion of a number of people, insult veterans of the Great Patriotic War.

Issues of protection of the rights of veterans and memory of the Great Patriotic War generation are an important part of activities of the Investigative Committee of Russia. In this relation the the Investigative Committee of Russia promptly responds to specific facts of insulting the memory of defenders of the Fatherland, which violates existing legislation.
