The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia pressed charges against Sergey Svitenko under a probe into insults and use of violence against a representative of authority. He is accused of committing offenses under Part 1 of Article 318 and Article 319 of the Criminal Code of Russia. Apart from that, the investigation has motioned the court to place him into custody.
According to investigation, om June 23, 2021 a police officer in the line of duty arrived to a house on Kurchatova Street in Voronezh, where an intoxicated by alcohol man was in a car cabin. The local citizens pointed at him as at a person who committed a road accident. The said citizen used insults and violence against the representative of authority in response to actions of the police officer aimed to suppress violation of law. The situation was recorded by video surveillance cameras and can be confirmed by testimonies of witnesses.
Earlier, the investigators obtained characterization data on the accused, which were used to determine the measure of restraint. Collection of evidence and establishment of other circumstances of the incident continues.
