The evidence collected by the Chelyabinsk region was considered by the court sufficient for the conviction of three local residents found guilty in accordance with the degree of participation in the commission of crimes under Paragraphs A, C, M of Article 102 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (murder), Part 3 of Article 30, Paragraphs A, H of Part 2 of Article 105 and Paragraphs A, H of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code (attempted murder and murder), Part 1, 2 of Article 209 (banditry), Part 3 of Article 222 (illegal acquisition of weapons).
The investigation and the court found that in August 1994, the convicts organized and committed murder of the Mayor of Kopeysk in connection with his official activities for the use of municipal property. In 1994, they set fire to the building of the Tax Inspection of Kopeysk. They also committed murder and two attempted murders of citizens between 1994 and 2004.
The Investigative Committee investigator performed a significant amount of work - over 15 forensic examinations were arranged and carried out, including forensic, psychiatric and of other kinds. Over 70 witnesses have been interrogated, over 20 searches have been carried out. The scope of the performed investigative activities led to a conclusion that the accused were guilty of committing the offences.
The crimes were solved due to the purposeful work of employees of the Chelyabinsk Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia as part of the investigation of crimes of past years.
The court sentenced the perpetrators to 25, 20 and 19 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony.
