The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructs to report on the ongoing criminal investigative actions on kidnapping a child in St. Petersburg

The media published files criticizing the investigative actions and operational-search measures to establish the location of a child hidden by a resident of St. Petersburg. It was reported that after a divorce from his wife, the father of the child attacked his ex-wife in December 2021 and he took away his young son by force, after which he disappeared and was subsequently put on the wanted list within the criminal case on kidnapping. The case was investigated by the Investigating Authorities of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for St. Petersburg (paragraphs "a, c, e" Part 2, Article 126 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). A decision was made in absentia against the man, he was recognized as a defendant; he was deprived of parental rights by a court decision. The publications also noted that the man aggressively inclined, according to the mother of the child, he repeatedly subjected the child to psychological and physical violence.
