Investigating authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Stavropol Territory charged 39-year-old Vladimir Ambartsumov with crimes under paragraphs “c”, “j” of Part 2 of Art. 105 of the RF Criminal Code (murder), paragraph "b" of Part 4 of Art.131 of the RF Criminal Code (rape), paragraph "b" of Part 4 of Art.132 of the RF Criminal Code (sexual assault).

According to investigators, July 23, 2012 Ambartsumov, having met a very young Anna Prokopenko on the street, presented himself a cosmetics company sales representative, and offered her to make some money. To do this, he suggested the girl to go to the office of the firm, but brought a child in the forest, where he raped her and committed sexual assault against her, and then he strangled her, buried the body in the same forest, and covered it with fragments of slate.

During the interrogation, the accused Ambartsumov has fully admitted his guilt in the charged offences under the weight of the collected evidence and he spoke in detail about the circumstances of their commission.

At present, the investigation operations aimed at collecting and preservation of the necessary evidence base are being conducted.
