The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in Krasnodar Territory have started a criminal investigation over the dead body of a 61-year-old priest of the Russian Orthodox Church with a brain injury found in the trunk of his Audi in the town of Belorechensk and over the arson of his house. The criminal case was opened in crimes under part 1 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder), part 1 of article 166 (illegal appropriation of a car or other means of transport without the intention of stealing) and part 2 of article 167 (deliberate destruction of property by arson).

According to preliminary information, a local man might be involved in the crimes, as the priest had a domestic conflict with him.

An investigating group has been set up in the region and an urgent meeting has been held to investigate the crime. At present necessary investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the crime and whereabouts of the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
