In Rostov Region man held on charges of murder committed 15 years ago

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Rostov Region continue investigating a criminal case against Amirkhan Dzagiyev charged with a crime under paragraphs “c”, “h”, “g” and “j” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder).

According to investigators, in October 1998, resident of Oblivskaya District, Rostov Region Yusup Aktimirov agreed with Amirkhan Dzagiyev, who had come for seasonal agricultural work, to attack an acquaintance of his to get hold of his VAZ-2107 car. On 10 October 1998, they deceived the man and called him on his car in the village of Novopoleyevsky under the pretext of going into the Belgorod Region. In Novopoleyevsky they hit him several times on his head with an axe, tied up and put in the trunk of his car. After that Aktimirov and Amirkhanov took him to the woods, where Dzagiyev delivered several more blows with the spade on the victim’s head and neck. They dug up a hole, buried the man’s body there and got away on the victim’s car.

A few days later Aktimirov was detained by the police in Chernyanka District, Belgorod Region. In 1999, a court found him guilty of the crime under paragraphs “c”, “h”, “g” and “j” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder) and sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Dzagiyev was put on the federal wanted list and was charged in absentia. The criminal case was suspended due the search for him.

On 4 June 2014, Dzagiyev’s whereabouts were found, he was detained by the police in the Saratov Region and convoyed to the Rostov Region. The investigator charged Dzagiyev again with a premeditative murder committed by a group of people in a previous concert out of mercenary motives. The same day on the petition of the investigator the court ruled to put Dzagiyev in custody pending the trial.

At present the investigators are carrying out operations to consolidate the evidence.
