Former Acting Deputy Head of Central Office of Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Surveillance for Tver Region found guilty

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Tver Region sufficient to convict former Acting Deputy Head of Central Office of the Federal Service for Ecological, Technological and Nuclear Surveillance (Rostekhnadzor) for the Tver Region Sergey Mitin. He was found guilty of a crime under part 3 of article 30, paragraph “c” of part 5 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (attempted bribery by an official on a large scale and via intermediary).

The court and investigators have found that in the period between November 2011 and February 2012, Sergey Mitin systematically received from CEO of OOO Prombezopasnost – Tver bribes for approving conclusions of industrial security expert examinations and for problem-free approval of conclusion in the Rostekhnadzor in future. In the said period Mitin received through an intermediary 50 thousand rubles from the CEO of Prombezopasnost – Tver and in April 2012, while receiving 100 thousand rubles and 2 thousand US dollars he was detained by the officers of the Tver Region Office of the Federal Security Service.

The court has sentenced Mitin to 7 years to be served in a maximum-security penal colony and a fine of 12 million 555 thousand 600 rubles banning him from occupying any positions in state civil service connected with managerial functions in state bodies and institutions for 2 years.
