In Krasnodar Territory check underway in Mi-2 crash

The investigating bodies of the Southern Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee are carrying out a pre-investigating check into a crash of a two-seat Mi-2 helicopter near the village of Otrado-Kubanskoye, Gulkevichi District, Krasnodar Territory.

According to investigators, on 21 June 2014, the Mi-2 went down at a field 1 km away from the village of Otrado-Kubankoye. There were a 44-year-old pilot and a 53-year-old passenger aboard the aircraft, both are from Krasnodar Territory. The pilot and passenger were taken to the central regional hospital in the town of Gulkevichi with different injuries. The helicopter was badly damaged. According to preliminary reports, the helicopter caught on a power line while maneuvering, which caused it to catch fire and crash.

At present investigators are examining the crash scene and surroundings, check is underway to find out all the circumstances of the crash. A procedural decision will be made following the check.
