In Khakassia head of Sorsk suspected of abusing office

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Republic of Khakassia have opened a criminal case against head of the town of Sorsk Alexander Zhukov. He is suspected of a crime under part 2 of article 285 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of authority).

According to investigators, in August 2012, the administration of Sorks and OOO Assembly and Setup Center Biyskenergomash concluded a municipal contract on major repairs of a boiler in a boiler room in Sorsk with delivery of equipment within the term of before 28 November 2012. The sum of the contract was over 9 million rubles. However, the contractor failed to finish the repairs on time.

In December 2012, the head of the town, being aware that the obligations to repair the boiler had not been fulfilled, signed an acceptance certificate, based on which the financial department of Sorsk administration transferred over 1 million 700 thousand rubles to the contractor, causing material damage to the budget of Khakassia.

At present necessary investigating operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime and consolidate the evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
