The Rostov Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have indicted members of a gang, who committed audacious crimes against law enforcement agents and citizens. Inessa Tarverdiyeva is charged with crimes under part 1 of article 209 of the RF Criminal Code (setting up a gang to attack citizens and membership in a gang), article 317 (encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer), paragraphs “a” and “h” of part 2 of article 105 (murder of two or more people and banditry). Viktoria Tarverdiyeva, Sergey and Anastasia Sinelnik are charged with crimes under part 2 of article 209 of the RF Criminal Code (membership in a gang or participation in crimes committed by a gang), article 317 (encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer), paragraphs “a” and “h” of part 2 of article 105 (murder of two or more people and banditry).

According to investigators, Inessa Tarverdiyeva together with her civil husband Roman Podkopayev organized an armed stable group (gang), which also included Viktoria Tarverdiyeva and the Sinelnik husband and wife. The aim of the gang was to attack citizens, including law enforcement officers in the Rostov Region in order to rob them of their belongings and firearms. Inessa Tarverdiyeva and Roman Podkopayev were the leaders of the group during the whole period, when the gang committed its crimes. It was they, who prepared and planned especially grave crimes, picked the aims, distributed roles between the gang members, and personally together with Viktoria Tarverdiyeva took active part in assaults. According to the roles distributed, Sergey Sinelnik used his official position of the police officer, knowing about search and investigating operations carried out to find and identify the gang members, and helped his accomplices to conceal the traces of the crimes; together with his wife Anastasia Sinelnik hid the gang members, including in their own house. In addition, the police officer and his wife indicated places and victims of future crimes to their accomplices and helped them to arrive and then flee the crime scenes.

The investigators report that the gang members were very close due to their close family relations, a common criminal intention. They planned their audacious crimes very carefully, and committed them multiple times. The gang had an arsenal firearms and ammunition, including those stolen from their victims. Besides the gang used special conspiracy means – special clothes and masks, radio stations, vehicles. They also received information from the law enforcement bodies about operations carried out to get hold of them. They had special places to keep firearms and ammunitions and the things stolen from their victims. These circumstances allowed the gang members to run their criminal activity in the Rostov Region for a long time.

The investigators believe that the gang committed the following crimes: the September 2012 assault and murder of two security officers Vasily Kamforin and Vladimir Mandrik in the town of Novocherkassk; murder of a taxi driver Vadim Lozhkin in November 2012 in Novocherkassk; the March 2013 murder of a traffic police officer Nikolai Kutsekon in the town of Aksay, when he tried to stop them robbing a stall; attack on the staffers of private security firm Nikolay Korsunov and Yuri Statsenko in April 2013 in Novocherkassk and the murder of one of them to get their firearms; murder of a traffic police officer Andrey Yurin in April 2013 in the village of Maly Mishkin; murder of Korchagin husband and wife in September 2013 in Aksay; murder of a security officer Ivan Shakhovoy, when he tried to hold the gang members and attempted murder of his partner Aleksey Lagoda.

During the investigating operations the investigators have searched the flats of the gang members and found and seized the firearms, they used to commit their crimes and ammunitions stolen from crime scenes, things and valuables, records describing some of their crimes, over 1 million rubles, a lot of jewelry.

At present investigators are carrying out a number of operations to get and consolidate the evidence and are checking the gang members on involvement in other crimes. Investigation is ongoing.
