Orphanage director in Trans-Baikal Territory to stand trial for negligence

The Siberian Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case against Galina Tyumentseva, the director of an orphanage. She is charged with a crime under part 1 of article 293 of the RF Criminal Code (negligence).

According to investigators, in the period between September 2002 and January 2013 Tyumentseva was an official and was well aware that children in her orphanage were sexually abused, and systematically discriminated and offended by other children because of that. She did not take any efficient and legitimate measures to protect the rights of the abused children.

Investigators have gathered enough evidence and the criminal case has been sent for the indictment to be approved and further on to court to be tried on the merits.
