Book “Veterans of investigation work in post-war period” published

The Russia’s Investigative Committee under the editorship of Alexander Bastrykin has published a book “Veterans of investigation work in post-war period”. The book includes data on 153 employees of investigating bodies committed to the difficult profession. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee noted: “Without exaggeration this is the gold fund of the investigating bodies in our country, who laid the corner stone of the professional investigation system in the Russian Federation. The aim of the book is to keep the memory about each of the veterans of investigation and give over invaluable experience to new generations of investigators”.

The book contains both biographies of the veterans and their recollections of their professional activity and events after the Great Patriotic War. Those are vivid stories of eyewitnesses of the time, when the country was rising from the ruins, and those are faiths of people who committed themselves to serving to Law and Justice. One can find in the book rare facts from the recollections of people, who took part in investigating both resonating and conspicuous crime and little-known, but no less complicated cases.

The book will be interesting for almost any reader concerned about the history of the country, jurisprudence and development of investigating bodies. Biographic data the book is based on, confirm the fact that despite the evolution of legislation, investigating methods and criminalistics equipment, such qualities as adherence to one’s principles, compassion and selflessness have always been characteristic of prominent representatives of the profession and are fundamental in our days.
