In Krasnodar Territory former financial officials of Russian Defense Ministry found guilty of stealing over 22 million rubles

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Military Investigations Department of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Krasnodar Garrison sufficient to convict former deputy head of Financial Office of the Russian Ministry of Defense for the Krasnodar Territory (hereinafter – the Office) Alexander Belousov, deputy head of Wages Department of the Office Yevgeny Kutuzov, leading economist of the Office Kamil Abdurakhmanov, military servant at military unit 35666 Senior Lieutenant Nikolai Sarbakhtin and civilian Roman Nikitin.

Belousov, Kutuzov and Sarbakhtin were found guilty of crimes under part 4 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code (fraud committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale), Nikitin and Abdurakhmanov – of part 5 of article 33, part 4 of article 159 (complicity in fraud on an especially large scale).

The court and investigators found that in the period between September and December 2011, during reformation of financial bodies of military units and institutions of the Russian Ministry of Defense Belousov, Kutuzov, Abdurakhmanov, Sarbakhtin and Nikitin used forged documents to steal over 22 million rubles by transferring it to their bank cards. During the preliminary investigation over 20 million rubles was returned to the state.

The military court has sentenced: Kutuzov to 7 years to be served in a minimum-security penal colony, Belousov 4 years to be served in a minimum-security penal colony, Sarbakhtin to 5 years to be served in a minimum-security penal colony, Abdurakhmanov received a suspended sentence of 2.5 years in prison and a fine of 150 thousand rubles, Nikitin – suspended sentence of 2 years in prison and a fine of 100 thousand rubles. The court has also satisfied the action filed by a representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense on exemption from the accused the rest of the damage.
