Senior officials of West Siberian Transport Investigations Directorate of Russia’s Investigative Committee took part in celebrations dedicated to Victory in Great Patriotic War

Today, on the eve of the Victory Day, leaders of the West Siberian Transport Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation participated in ceremonies to mark the 69th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War that were held in Novosibirsk. Together with representatives of the authorities of the region and the city, as well as veterans and cadets, they laid flowers at the monument to Marshal A. Pokryshkin.

At the ceremony, they honored the memory of all those fallen in the Great Patriotic War.

Alexander Pokryshkin is a legendary Soviet ace pilot; he was born in the city of Novosibirsk (Novonikolayevsk); he was the first three times a Hero of the Soviet Union; Air Marshal. During the war he made his way up from lieutenant to colonel, became a famous hero and symbol of Soviet aviation. He flew 650 missions, had 156 air battles, shot down 59 enemy aircraft in person and 6 as part of a group. He participated in the Victory Parade in 1945 as the standard-bearer of the 1st Ukrainian Front.
