Former officials of Moscow Region Ministry of Economy found guilty of grand bribery

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by Moscow Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict former head of department for supporting small and medium-sized business of the Moscow Region Ministry of Economy Alexey Poluyanov and his deputy Yuri Letovaltsev. They were found guilty of a crime under part 6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (taking a bribe on an especially large scale).

The court and investigators have found that, between 19 January 2011 and 14 June 2012, Poluyanov and Letovaltsev assisted legal entities and sole proprietors of Klin District in getting target-specific budgetary funds of the Moscow Region. For that they several times received cash bribes from the former director of the Municipal Foundation for supporting small-size entrepreneurship of Klin District in the form of 5% from the sum of the subsidies equaling in total to over 2 million rubles.

On 14 June 2012, Poluyanov and Letovaltsev were caught by the officers of the Moscow and Moscow Region office of the Federal Security Service red-handed while receiving 350 thousand rubles from the former director of the Municipal Foundation for supporting small-size entrepreneurship of Klin District.

The court gave Poluyanov and Letovaltsev a suspended sentence of 8 years plus a fine of 147 million 990 thousand rubles each and banned them from occupying positions related to management.
