The Maritime Territory Office of the Investigative Committee continues investigating a murder of a 12-year-old girl in the settlement of Shkotovo (Part 2, item “c” of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code).
It became known earlier that on 9 March 2016, at 4:20 PM, the body of a 12-year-old girl with signs of violent death was found on a wasteland 200 meters from house No 5 in Vokzalnaya Street. The suspect of the crime has been detained thanks to well-planned investigative and search operations. It is a 24-year-old resident of the town of Artyom. The man has confessed to the crime and described in detail his actions during the crime and other objects confirming his involvement. His statement has been checked at the murder scene. Experts have confirmed that the sample taken from the crime scene matches the one taken from the man.
A large-scale work has been done, using capacities of the DNA laboratory of the Investigative Committee in Khabarovsk, which has studied about 1,700 saliva samples taken from all men living in Shkotovo. At the present time, the detainee is expecting a custodial restraint. Witnesses are being questioned and some more forensic inquiries have been ordered. The operative support was provided by the police.
