Novosibirsk Region Office of Investigative Committee investigates into hooliganism that injured child

On 3 June 2016, at about 2:30 PM, a team of doctors delivered a 2nd grader from a school located in the town of Ob to a hospital. The girl had a wound from a pneumatic gun in the small of her back. Having received necessary treatment the girl was sent back home. At present her life is out of danger. The police officers found a 53-year-old man who had shot from an air gut to the school playground. The police opened an investigation into a crime under Part 1 of Article 213 of the RF Penal Code (hooliganism).

Taking into consideration that it was a child who suffered, the reaction of the general public and in order to conduct thorough investigation into all the details of the incident the Novosibirsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee have requested the prosecutor’s office to withdraw the case from the police and pass it on to the regional investigative office for inquiry. The request has been granted and now the case is being investigated by the Novosibirsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee.

According to preliminary data, on 3 June, there was a party for children celebrating the opening of the school camp. The man who lives 100 meters away from the school did not like the loud music so he took an air gun and started shooting at the speakers. One of the bullets caught the girl who was standing next to the speaker. Last year the man was also displeased with the music, but had expressed it in less rampageous manner, but had just rebuked the school administration.

The investigators are going to carry out all necessary investigative operations to find out all the details of the crime which will help them to qualify the man’s actions. The investigation is ongoing.
