In Dagestan Republic criminal case launched over attempt on lives of law enforcement officers

Dagestan Republic investigating bodies of the Russia's Investigative Committee have launched a criminal case over crimes under Article 31 of the RF Penal Code (attempt on the life of a law enforcement official), Part 2 of Article 222 of the RF Penal Code (illegal circulation of firearms committed by a group), Part 2 of Article 167 of the RF Penal Code (attempted damage of another’s property committed in generally dangerous way).

According to investigators, on August 5, 2016 at approximately 22:30 in the center of Karamakhi settlement unidentified persons used grenade launcher and submachine gun to shoot law enforcement officers in discharge of their functions on maintenance of peace and public security. After that, the attackers escaped. As a result of the shooting, three policemen and a citizen were injured. Service cars Ural and UAZ, as well as automobiles parked nearby, were significantly damaged.

At the moment investigation procedures are underway, aimed to find all circumstances of the incident, identify those committed the crime and arrest them.
