A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Krasnoyarsk Territory Office of the Investigative Committee sufficient to convict a 31-year-old woman from Balakhta District. She was found guilty of a crime under Article 106 of the RF Penal Code (murder by the mother of her newborn baby).

The court and investigators have revealed that the 31-year-old woman from Balakhta District, who had three babies, hid from her boyfriend and relatives her unwanted pregnancy and gave birth to a baby boy on 21 May 2016 in a public toilet without any help. The boy was born alive and healthy. However, the woman wanted to kill him and strangled him. She put the body in a plastic bag and threw it in cesspit of the toilet. The boy died of mechanical asphyxia.

Forensic medical examinations including that of the baby’s body and a psychiatric evaluation were run during the investigation. The woman pleaded guilty.

The court has sentenced her to 2 years in a correctional settlement.
