In Khabarovsk, two teenagers suspected of killing taxi driver

The Khabarovsk Territory Office of the Investigative Committee continues a murder investigation under Part 1 of Article 105 of the RF Penal Code.

According to investigators, on the night of 1 December 2016, two 17-year-old boys decided to kill a random taxi driver and take his money and car. They called a taxi via a taxi service. A 29-year-old man in a Toyota Corolla arrived to attend to the call. The suspects asked the driver to drive to a nearby wasteland allegedly to get an accumulator. When they arrived, one of the teenagers held the driver while the other one stabbed him in the neck. The driver broke away and ran off, but one of the teenagers caught him and stabbed few more times in the back. Despite his severe wounds the victim managed to escape. The teenagers searched the car, but found nothing except a cell phone. They left the car at the other end of the wasteland and got back home. The wounded victim was found by passersby who called an ambulance. Before dying in the hospital, the man told that he had been attacked by some unknown people.

The suspects have been identified thanks to well-planned investigative and search operations. The teenagers have been held when they were going to a shopping mall to sell the taxi driver’s phone. One of them has confessed to the crime, while the other is refusing to cooperate.

Agents of the Khabarovsk Territory police department are taking active part in the investigation.

At present, investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances surrounding the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
