The Kirov Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation in reckless homicide under Part 3 of Article 109 of the RF Criminal Code after a 2-year-old toddler and his grandmother died in a fire.

The regional investigative authority got a report that body of a 48-year-old woman was found at a fire scene in the village of Lavrushata, Afanasyevo District on the evening of 20 May. Body of her 2-year-old grandchild was found under the debris on the morning of 21 May. Investigators were dispatched immediately and opened a probe.

As was revealed, that that day and at the moment of the fire the woman was home with her grandchild. About 4 PM, a man was passing by the house and saw thick smoke and fire inside the house. He called firefighters, but the house burned to the foundation.

At present, the investigators are conducting investigative operations to find out all the circumstances surrounding the incident. Necessary examinations have been ordered. The investigation is ongoing.
