In Nizhny Novgorod, criminal inquiry into parents for intended murder of their little son finished

The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has completed the investigation into the 36-year-old woman and her 34-year-old husband accused of committing of an offence under Paragraphs C, E, G pf Part 2 of Article 105 (murder of a minor committed with especial cruelty by a group of persons under a preliminary conspiracy); Article 156 (failure to discharge the duties of bringing up a minor) of the Criminal Code of Russia.

According to the investigation, the accused gave birth to her son on April 7, 2017. Living in an apartment on Dolzhanskaya Street of Kanavinsky District of Nizhny Novgorod, both parents failed to discharge their parental duties, regularly deprived the child of proper feeding, did not take good care of him.

The intended criminal actions resulted in a severe medical condition that the baby developed. The father called for ambulance only on July 21, 2017, when he noticed during a walk that his son showed no signs of life.

The baby was admitted to a hospital in an especially grave condition. Despite the medical assistance, the boy died on December 11, 2017. The forensic examination showed that the baby died of long-term limited feeding or starvation.

The Investigative Committee performed a significant number of investigative activities and expert examinations, including forensic and psychiatric ones.

The defendants did not admit their guilt and filed a motion for their case to be considered by jurors.

The investigation gathered enough evidence; therefore, the criminal case with the approved indictment was sent to the court to be tried on the merits.
