Based on the collected evidence, investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia have pressed final charges against a 59-year-old man for committing offenses under Paragraphs A, J of Part 2 of Article 105 (murder of two persons); four episodes of the offense under Paragraph B of Part 2 of Article 132 (sexual abuse); three episodes of the offense under Paragraph B of Part 2 of Article 131 (rape); and Part 1 of Article 127 (illegal deprivation of liberty of a person not related to abduction) of the Criminal Code of Russia.
According to the investigation, in summer 2018, the man had met a woman from Saratov whom he started to date. They had celebrated New Year 2019 together in a private house belonging to him. On January 1, 2019, severely intoxicated, he had had a row with his female guest. During the conflict, the man had raped and sexually abused the victim, and then started beating her inflicting numerous blows with his fist on her head area and kicking her on the body, following which he had left the house. Upon returning home on the evening of the same day, he had discovered that the woman had not been showing any vital signs. Fearing responsibility for his actions, the man had wrapped the woman’s body in a blanket, tied it with a rope, and placed in an unheated room of the house where it was stored until discovered by law enforcement officers on February 6, 2019.
Late January 2019, the man had met another woman, invited her home, and suggested they lived together. The new acquaintance had been staying at his place for several days. In early February 2019, the severely intoxicated man had had a row with the woman. Being angry with her and fearing that she might discover the body of the first victim, he had hit her multiple times and then committed rape and sexual violence against her. Once realized that the woman had died of her injuries, he had left the place of his residence and started to reside with his acquaintances in Frunzensky District of Saratov.
Apart from that, on November 25, 2018, at the place of his residence, the same man had sexually abused a 40-year-old woman threatening to kill her and to harm her severely had she refused. Following that, the perpetrator had deprived the victim of her liberty and kept her in his house. On November 27, 2018, the perpetrator had decided to visit his acquaintance with her, thinking that the victim’s will was completely suppressed. Fortunately, the woman had managed to run away.
Moreover, on December 14, 2018, at the place of his residence, the man had committed rape and sexual violence against a 45-year-old woman threatening to kill her and to severely harm her had she refused. The victim, using the fact that the man had been in need of money, had talked him into visiting her acquaintance. Due to this, she had managed to run away. She had decided not to alert the police, fearing the man’s revenge. When police officers contacted her as part of operative search activities, she told them about the illegal actions committed against her.
At a request of the investigative unit, the accused was subjected to preventive detention.
At present, investigators are carrying out procedural actions aimed to complete the preliminary investigation of the probe.
